Tiger prawn
Penaeus monodon
Overview
Tiger prawns’ sustainability varies. The Best Choices are those produced in zero input systems in Indonesia, or those certified organic. Look out for other eco-labels on products, including Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), Global Seafood Alliance Best Aquaculture Practice (GSA BAP 2*, 3*, 4*) and GLOBALG.A.P. certification. Uncertified tiger prawns farmed in Indonesia, Vietnam and India are Fish to Avoid. Check with your retailer to make sure you are buying certified prawns.
